Conversion/reconversion

An interesting article at the New Statesman by British writer A.N. Wilson. He converted to atheism and has slowly made his way back to faith. I enjoy a good conversion story especially when it’s tempered with reluctance and doubt. There’s something inevitable about God that many of us spend our whole lives fighting against.

…unbelievers are simply missing out on something that is not difficult to grasp. Perhaps it is too obvious to understand; obvious, as lovers feel it was obvious that they should have come together, or obvious as the final resolution of a fugue.

DC Talk Tshirt – Vintage or Ironic, You Decide

We have come into possession of a vintage/ironic DC Talk tshirt circa 1990. Stats:

1. Size: XL
2. 100% cotton
3. Condition: Near mint – as far as i can tell it’s never been worn, but it has been in storage for a number of years
4. SIGNED BY ALL THREE MEMBERS. Sharpied over their silhouettes, easily discernible: Toby, Kevin, Micheal. There is a fourth signature which is not readable, but it might say “McKean” based on its position.

6. Back: Word 2 the Summer (Smaller: dc talk)

The Straight Agenda – An Open Letter to Miss California

Dear Carrie Prejean,

Last year the people of California decided to amend their constitution to withhold legal marriage rights from same-sex couples. When the question of support for gay marriage came up during the Miss USA pageant, you said you were against it. It has been noted by many observers that this statement lost you the crown. First of all let me apologize: until yesterday I had not really heard much about you. The whole beauty-pageant-modeling-world is not really my scene. But after a conversation with my wife i thought i’d look you up.

I notice that you’ve become somewhat of a celebrity especially in conservative circles. Fox news, for example, can’t get enough of you. And Sarah Palin is supporting your fight against the “liberal onslaught”. Also most of my christian friends on Facebook have “become a fan” of you. Conservative christian bloggers across the web have lauded you for “[standing] fast in [your] morals and biblical truths, refusing to compromise [your] faith.” You’ve even been on Focus on the Family with James Dobson! And it looks like you’re being hated on by a huge cross-section of the blogerati for your views so you’ve got that martyr thing going too.
